Join us this Thursday, November 14th at 11:45 am at Baja Cantina in Sequim to listen to the organizers of a fun, festive family venue!  Edna Peterson and Jim Haguewood will join us to share the fun of Port Angeles' Winter Ice Village, now in it's second year.  Harken back to days of old when the skating rink at Lake Dawn was a Port Angeles fixture.
Port Angeles Winter Ice Village II is coming to town November 22 through January 20th. The holiday attraction will be at the same location but bigger and better than last year. This year the village will have a larger ice-skating rink, a longer season (8 weeks rather than 6), more skates and skate sizes and a redesigned village with more festive features.
Winter Ice Village I was a huge hit with local residents and visitors, with over 15,000 skate sessions attracting over 20,000 people to downtown during the holiday season. Kids in the community enjoyed the activity, including 12 school groups, all to experience ice skating, many of them who became skilled skaters. The Village was a bright addition to downtown with over 85,000 lights creating a unique holiday environment.
The Winter Ice Village would not have become a reality without volunteers and financial sponsorships. Operating the rink for six weeks required 652 volunteer shifts for a total of 4,172 hours valued at more than $75,000. Local businesses and residents contributed over $40,000 in funding support.
