Please join us to hear an update from Clallam County Sheriff BillBenedict regarding crime rates in the county and his enforcement of the new gun registration laws.  
 

Sheriff Benedict began his law enforcement career with Clallam County in 1995.  He was elected sheriff in November 2006.  Prior to becoming sheriff, he worked as a patrol deputy, patrol sergeant, boating safety officer, and undercover narcotics officer.

Sheriff Benedict graduated from the University of Michigan in 1971with a liberal arts degree. He received a master's degree in applied physics (meteorology and oceanography) from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1988. Prior to entering law enforcement, Sheriff Benedict was a Surface Warfare Officer and Naval Flight Officer in the U.S. Navy flying in F-4’s and F-14s. He made numerous deployments to Southeast Asia, the Mediterranean Sea and Pacific Ocean. He retired from the Navy in 1994 with the rank of commander.

Sheriff Benedict lives in Sequim with his wife, Kathy. They have three adult children and three grandchildren.
